The Minnesota Indian Golf Classic began as a small one day outing in 1969, in Blackduck Minnesota. In the early seventies the tournament was moved to Walker MN, and hosted at the Tianna Country Club.
This golf tournament is the longest running American Indian golfing event in the United States. Over the years this event has become a place for Indian golfers to congregate, and a place for their families to gravitate towards to find people they rarely see. For those who come often it has evolved into a reunion of a sort of extended family linked through one weekend a year in August.
From scores of tournament attendees arriving on Friday, to those regulars who show up on Saturday for the best-ball event without a partner; we look forward to seeing you all and retelling the stories of the golf tournament throughout the year to each other. We find in you, the perennial participants of this great golf outing, the humor and comradery that waits all year long to be discovered at this most wonderful gathering of family, friends, and acquaintances.
